Memorial day on the Colorado River
Memorial Day we loaded up the canoe and camper and headed south to Columbus to the Colorado river. The Gills, Glasses and the Earles all went with us. It was a fun filled weekend, but it was really windy the entire time. Chris Earles took two groups of kayakers and canoers down the river and we played Mexican Train and just plain relaxed. Other than the wind (which really was a blessing because it wasn't as hot) we had a perfect weekend. Saturday afternoon Chris and Daryl went into town and stopped in at a train shop. About two hours later they finally managed to escape. The man that owned it was in his 70s and had recently lost his wife to cancer and had just found out his dog was terminally ill. He instantly took to Chris and he talked and talked and talked and talked and finally we were able to tear ourselves away from him. He was interesting to listen too, but we were happy to escape. After Memorial day Greerson had four more days of school then it was officially summertime for him.

Childrens Day at Church
In February the cold weather froze the pipes in the churches children's building and flooded it with about three inches of water. After several months of restoration it was finally reopened on Children's Day. Greerson was also baptized on Children's day. It was an activity filled day that started with serving a light breakfast to open the new building and then finished with the presentation of the children's musical that evening. Daryl is on the children's ministry team so he had to help with the breakfast and then he also assists with the children's choirs.

The LBJ Library
Greerson's gifted and talented class went on a field trip to Austin to the LBJ Library. He rode with Daryl and another father down to the library and enjoyed a quick tour and then got to play cold war spy. It was of particular interest since Daryl had just discovered that he was related to LBJ while doing genology work. It takes on a different meaning when you are looking for clues about his families past at the library. A most interesting find was a book that Lady Bird had written taken from her journal of their time in the White House. It is a very interesting read and puts everything from her perspective. New this time was a tour of Lady Bird's private office. Since her death a few years ago they have opened it up to the public.

Birthdays
There were several new calves at the ranch helping celebrate Brenna's birthday
Every two year old needs a pink car for their birthday!
Marshall chilled out in the swing and watched the festivities

Shanda did an awesome job making a Mickey Mouse cake
We have three birthdays in the family in May, Daryl, Brenna and Shanda. The only big celebration was for Brenna who turned two this year. We all went to the ranch and she invited a friend and her mother and had gluten free Mickey Mouse cake. Marshall has Shanda on a gluten free kick, so we all enjoyed it. Several of the cows had calves and we watched them on the way to go check out the exotic animals. We didn't see a whole lot this trip. They claim there are two giraffes now, but we have only seen one. We were hoping to see them, but they were elusive yet again.

End of School Remodel
May was an incredibly busy month at the Worley house. Daryl got a whim to remodel the back of the house and install new Hardy plank siding during the middle of giving final exams. It was supposed to take a week, but ended up taking a good month. It isn't painted yet, but it is installed. We also had an Andersen door that we had gotten a couple of years ago that needed to be installed. That lead to a new storm door so that Lucky wouldn't tear up the expensive new door. Lucky was totally freaked out during the process. He really came to like his dog house and hiding in the shrubs when the nail guns were firing.

Foam was inserted between the bricks and the end of the wall.
We let a lot of flies in through the window opening!
