Barefoot in the Park

Paul tells Corie about his first case in court the next morning

Mrs. Banks is not sure what to think about Victor Velasco

September and October have been busy months for us. Daryl directed Barefoot in the Park by Neil Simon for Navarro College, which meant driving to Corsicana three nights a week. The opening night audience loved it. Christa has been busy with Greerson and the Boy Scouts. She is now a Patrol guide and went camping at the Sam Houston Area Council (Shac) Jamboree (ShacJam) in College Station at the raceway. They were both impressed that Lord Baden Powell's granddaughter was there from England. He is the founder of scouting. In November we will be headed to Dinosaur Valley. Christa will probably stay in a tent, but the camper will be there for Daryl to hang out in. That will probably be out last camper campout for 2010. We are hoping to take it out in January, but we will have to see how our schedule works out. Here are some pictures from Barefoot in the Park.

HPU Homecoming

The old pipe organ is gone

The lobby looks similar, but I always liked the black and white checkered tile that is now wall to wall carpeting.

The seats look really nice and almost comfortable now.

This is the new second floor mezzanine where the practice rooms used to be.

The view from the mezzanine of the newer music complex

The outside is pretty much the same, but they took out the huge trees from in front.

This is the Old Main tower behind the Bible Building. Jesus is at the other end, but we didn't take the time to walk down and see him.

This is the brilliant Class of 1989 leadership! Note the illustrious president (with hair!)

It's really hard to believe that I have been out of college for 21 years. Dr. Nancy Jo Humfeld who is now the head of the Theatre department at Howard Payne University celebrated 25 years of teaching and my niece Robin and I attended. Nancy Jo had directed a play so we attended the special performance with the other theatre alumni. After the show we all went to a special reception for her. It was great being back on campus and conjuring up old memories. Facebook helped with that. David Cozart had posted about the yearbooks being available online now so I of course had to peruse them. I found this picture of me when I was the senior class president. I had a time getting it on here. I turned it into an adobe acrobat document, cropped it, copied and pasted it into Word and then took a picture of the Word document with my iphone. I realize there is probably some easy way to do it, but frankly I couldn't figure it out. So I got creative and you can see the fruits of my efforts. The other huge change at HPU was Mims Auditorium. They have completely redone it inside. All of the offices and practice rooms are gone. In fact the studio where I took piano lessons is now the men's restroom. The restroom looked a lot larger than the studio ever did (maybe it was because there were two grand pianos in it). Anyway I am posting pictures of the newly renovated Mims Auditorium. I looked for my parent's bricks, but couldn't find them. They had a stage set up for the BBQ and I couldn't see under it. We went down Friday afternoon and were back in Waco by 12:30 am. It was a nice short trip.

Star Wars the Clone Wars Premiere Party

Star Wars: The Clone Wars – Republic HeroesImage via Wikipedia
Greerson invited some friends over for a Star Wars the Clone Wars Premiere Party a couple of weeks ago. We had been given the opportunity to test a new game featuring the characters from the tv show. They all had a great time. We ate Double Dave's pepperoni rolls and watched the new episode and then played the game. They also played the Clone Wars game on the WII.

Christa had to work so Daryl hosted the boys and everyone had a great time!
